We are Hertfordshire County Council's sole provider of assistive technology across the county.
We work closely with social care professionals, the NHS, GPs, nurses, hospices, pharmacists, support groups, charities, carers, the police, Herts Fire & Rescue and other professional referral partners across Hertfordshire to ensure that those in their care receive the reassurance, safety and independence that assistive technology can bring, as quickly as possible.
Hertfordshire County Council professionals should refer to us via ACSIS for Connect and Support pathways.
For Connect and Prevent, Connect and Enable, and all other Professionals making referrals, please use the purple button below:
Please read here if the person does not own the freehold to the property the equipment will be at as there's a permission form that will need to be completed.
Over the Christmas period our Control Room will be taking calls for help 24/7 in the usual way. For Referral, administration and technical opening hours, please see here.

Price of assistive technology
There is a substantially subsidised monthly charge of £20 + VAT per month (inclusive of all calls) and the same price as just a community alarm – this covers the cost of monitoring calls, equipment maintenance and an emergency response service.
This is substantially lower than other providers.
There are no installation or equipment costs and we can have the service in place within 10 working days, often sooner. Access to this service is not means tested.
When a referral is made to us via ACSIS or the referral form, Herts Careline will follow this procedure:
- if the referral is for a complex needs assessment, we will contact the service user or family directly to assess the situation
- if the referral is for a community alarm and pendant, we will send the information in the post to the potential service user and wait for them to complete and return the necessary paperwork to join the service.
