There are lots of ways technology can help you in your home. This could be from a simple medication reminder alert, to getting vital help if you have a fall. Care or assistive technology helps people live at home more safely and to stay independent, giving reassurance to family and carers.
The technology comes in many different forms. It can be single stand-alone items, for example the medications reminders mentioned above. Another option is a personal alarm system with a pendant or wrist strap, linked to a monitoring centre, such as Herts Careline, for help in an emergency. Some devices can be linked to family carers and/or connected to advisors in a monitoring centre. This way your family would know that you’re up and about and have switched the kettle on, as your usual habit is each morning, for example. There could also be an alert if you don’t follow your usual pattern.
